Print Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be double spaced in Microsoft .doc or .docx format with standard 12pt Times New Roman font and 1 inch margins. Submissions should generally be between 3000 and 6000 words (13 to 23 pages) in length, excluding references. Longer submissions should be condensed to fit the preferred length recommendation. Submissions should adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style's citation format, should include footnotes with a bibliography that distinguishes between primary and secondary sources.

Submissions must have been written by a student during their undergraduate years of university. While the student may have already completed undergraduate university at the time of submission, the article must have been written during the student's course of undergraduate study to be considered

Submissions must not have been previously published in any student, professional, or academic publication. If you have also submitted your piece to another publication, please inform us if you have been selected for publication by their team. We do not republish papers.

As we review submissions blindly, please remove any personal or university identifiers from the title of the article or the article itself.

If your article is selected for publication, you must commit to participating in a collaborative editing process with the Georgetown University Journal of History staff during the Fall of 2025. The submission deadline for consideration in the Fall 2025 Print Issue is Sunday, August 31st, 2025 at 11:59pm.
