Print Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be double spaced in Word doc. or docx. format with standard 12-point Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. Submissions should generally range from 3000 to 6000 words (or, 13 to 23 pages) in length, excluding references. Longer submissions should be condensed to fit the preferred length recommendation. And all submissions should be paginated in the upper right-hand corner following the title page. Submissions must adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style Notes-Bibliography citation format, including footnotes and a bibliography. For CMOS citation specifics, please reference Purdue Owl,CMOS Quick Guide, or your university’s library website. 

Because we blindly review all submissions, please remove any personal or university identifiers from your article prior to its submission. With this in mind, your submission's title page should only consist of a title, excluding your name, related course, and original submission date. 

If your article is selected for publication, you must commit to participating in a remote collaborative editing process with the Georgetown Journal of History staff during the fall 2026 semester. This will include bi-monthly editing and format suggestions from line editors, which you must respond to and resolve within the designated time frame. However, completing your suggested revisions should take no more than 1-2 hours every other week. All selected articles will be published in our upcoming issue this winter (Volume III, Issue I).
